I forgot to post this set with the mega-figurine-spam session the other day, so here we go! This is the "good side" of a fanart chess set in the style of the MMORPG EverQuest; I made this probably 3 years ago. Reference coins are a US quarter (left) and US dime (right). Evil side: [link]
Individual pieces: (left to right, top to bottom)
Top row: entire board, white queen, white king, white bishops
Left middle: white rooks, white knights
Right middle: white pawns, coin reference pics
Bottom: backs of all the white pieces
Race/class info for each piece: (in same order listed above)
White queen: female high elf wizard*
White king: male high elf wizard
White bishops: male dwarf cleric, male froglok cleric
White rooks: male vah shir beastlord with tiger pet, female barbarian beastlord with wolf pet
White knights: male dwarf paladin on horse with flaming paladin epic weapon, male human paladin on horse
White pawns: -- all halflings -- ...male ranger, male thief, male cleric, female druid, male druid, female ranger, female druid, female cleric
Note: some of the halflings could be other classes, I made them fairly random
* This is specifically the chick on the front cover of all the EQ games.
If you know how to rig them, can make them move around like Battle chess.
Could make your own movies with them. Actually if you have the patience, can make movies with your current models.
You're right. I have access to a digital camera at the moment. I don't think it has a setting for decent stop-motion video (but I should go look at the manual of d00m).... heh.... inspiration strikes, thankyou! Who knows where it will go, but at the moment... *reaches for to-do list*
good luck with yours!
I wonder how long it would take to model the figures in 3d?
